An appliance can fit its intended position yet still be difficult to deliver there. Before ordering, assess transport dimensions, narrow points and the agreed delivery service together. This avoids discovering the problem only when the vehicle arrives.
Measure the complete route
Start at the agreed handover point and walk to the final location. Record narrow doors, stair landings, tight turns and lift dimensions. Measure the genuinely clear opening rather than just the door panel. Handles, railings and projecting furniture can reduce usable space. Photographs help the delivery provider understand the arrangement.
Compare those measurements with the exact appliance's packaged and unpackaged dimensions. Do not assume it may be unpacked along the route or transported in any orientation. The supplier or manufacturer needs to establish permitted conditions. Avoid silently planning risky personal handling as the solution to a narrow point.
Understand the service in writing
Check whether delivery ends at the kerb, entrance or intended room. Ask about the specific arrangements for stairs. Any service surcharge belongs in the offer's total price. A cheap appliance with an unsuitable handover arrangement is not a complete comparison.
Clarify connection, unpacking, packaging removal and any collection of the old appliance. These are not automatically bundled together. Ask what preparation is required and who may perform it. An old appliance that remains connected may prevent collection if the agreed conditions require otherwise. Keeping each service explicit avoids relying on assumptions about what the delivery team will do.
Prepare for the day
Clear the agreed route and keep the order and model details available. Inspect the delivery for visible damage under the stated handover process and document anything concerning. Further steps depend on the actual contract and service terms; this practical preparation does not replace individual legal advice.
If measurements leave delivery uncertain, ask the provider what information is missing before ordering. A short exchange with photographs is easier than a failed transport. The delivery arrangement belongs in the appliance decision because it is what turns a product offer into usable equipment in the right place. Resolve it before treating two purchase prices as equivalent.
